When a Planning Application is made to Mendip District Council it is forwarded to the Parish Council. The Parish Council does not have the power to take decisions about planning applications, but it does make recommendations to the District Council. Planning Applications will discussed by the Parish Council Committee. A proposal will be put forward to either recommend refusal or recommendation of the Planning Application and the reasons for this. The Committee will then vote on the proposal and send their recommendation back to Mendip District Council along with their comments.
If you feel strongly about an application, you are welcome to come along to the relevant meeting and ideally also submit your comments directly to Mendip District Council Planning Department via their website.
